SERVICE FOR JOSEPH L. COOPER, 88, OF 725 NINTH ST., WEST DES MOINES, WHO DIED OF ARTERIOSCLEROSIS MONDAY AT STILL OSTEOPATHIC HOSPITAL, WILL BE AT 2P.M. THURSDAY AT MCLAREN FUNERAL HOME. BURIAL WILL BE IN RESTHAVEN CEMETERY.
MR. COOPER, WHO HAD BEEN ILL THREE MONTHS, WAS BORN AT DUNREATH AND CAME TO WEST DES MOINES 58 YEARS AGO. HE WAS A WATCHMAN AT PENN-DIXIE CEMENT CO. PLANT BEFORE RETIRING 14 YEARS AGO.
HE WAS A MEMBER OF ST. MARK'S LUTHERAN CHURCH AND THE ODD FELLOWS LODGE IN WEST DES MOINES.
SURVIVING ARE HIS WIDOW, CAROLINE; A SON, JERALD OF WEST DES MOINES; A DAUGHTER, MRS. ARLENE M. DENNY OF WEST DES MOINES, A SISTER, MRS. DELL DOUGLAS OF ADAIR; A HALF-SISTER, MRS. SENA SWANSON OF CLIVE; A HALF BROTHER HOWARD LOVE OF ALBIA; SEVEN GRANDCHILDREN AND 16 GREATGRANDCHILDREN.
