Larry C. West

Larry Corvus West, 73, passed away on January 8, 2011. Services will be held at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway, West Des Moines. Visitation on Thursday, January 13, 2011 from 5 to 7 p.m. and the funeral on Friday, January 14 at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Glendale cemetery.

Larry was born on June 29, 1937 in Des Moines, IA to Corvus and Ada Marie West. He graduated from Valley High School in 1955 and attended Grandview College. He worked most of his life in the construction industry, starting with Dowd Drywall and Allied Construction before creating his own company, West Construction Drywall Supply in the early 80’s.

Larry enjoyed life and knew how to have fun. He enjoyed motor-home camping, four wheeling at his farm in southern Iowa, hunting, fishing and traveling. He loved the sunshine, being outdoors and was known for his huge bon fires.

He will be greatly missed by his wife, Sheryl; children, Mindy (Neal) Moots, Pam (David) Pudans, Liz (Steve) Winders, Blake (Tina) Richards, and Leanne (David) Wiese; 15 grandchildren; sister, Jean (William) Buchanan; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Larry was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Judith Brown.
