LELA MARY CLARK 1911 to 2010

Lela Mary Clark was born September 18, 1911, and passed away August 1, 2010. Lela was the daughter of William and Janet Trusler from the rural Ira - Mingo area.

She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister, Margaret; husband, Ernest Clark of Mitchellville; son, William Clark from Bondurant; and brother, Morris Trusler from Ira - Mingo.

She is survived by her son, Harry (Sandi) Clark of Runnells; daughter, Shirley (Ken) Simons of Arvada, Colorado; daughter-in-law, Anita Clark of Des Moines; and sister, Janet Matthews of Baxter. She was blessed to have six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She was a special grandmother to all of them, never forgetting their birthdays and special events in their lives.

Lela graduated from Colfax High School in 1929 and then attended Cedar Falls Teacher's College. She taught for approximately two years in rural schools, and married Ernest Clark on March 4, 1933. She worked side by side with her husband for a number of years. In approximately 1956, she began working for Look Magazine in Des Moines. After Look, she worked for the Department of Transportation, Job Service, and the Governor's Highway Safety Department until shw was 72. She was a faithful, hard working employee.

Her husband Ernie, passed away on Augusr 2, 1966, and Lela remained in her own home. She moved to Courtyard Estates when she was 95, and recently moved to Altoona Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Thursday, August 5, 2010 at Mitchellville United Methodist Church, 200 2nd Street SW, Mitchellville with burial at Mitchellville Cemetery. Friends may visit with fanily from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at Hamilton's Mitchellville Funeral Home, 303 Center Avenue South, Mitchellville.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mitchellville United Methodist Church in loving memory of Lela.
