Larry Eugene Warren passed away August 7, 2010. His death resulted from prostate cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at McLaren's Chapel in West Des Moines with interment at Resthaven Cemetery.

Larry was born 22 December, 1935 in Osceola, Iowa. He was the son of John and Maimie (West) Warren. He was raised in Osceola, Chariton and Corydon and graduated from Corydon High School in 1954. After his graduation he moved to Des Moines to attend the American Institute of Business and graduated from there in 1956.

Larry was married to Jeanette Hoover in Des Moines on 18 June, 1960, and they were blessed with the births of two children. They lived in Des Moines until moving to Clive in 2001.

In his younger days Larry enjoyed outdoor sports and was a lifelong fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Pittsburgh Steelers. In recent years he devoted much of his time to genealogical research for himself and also enjoyed assisting others in the research of their ancestors. He and Jeanette were early morning walkers at Jordan Creek Mall and he enjoyed the many friends he met while walking there. His greatest joy in life was his family and he truly enjoyed the time he spent with his grandchildren and attending their activities.

Larry was a member of the West Des Moines United Methodist Church. He was also a member of several state and county genealogical societies.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanette; his son Rod (Julie) Warren of Clive; his grandchildren, Melinda Warren, Hallie Warren, Courtney Warren and Ross Warren all of Clive. He is also survived by his sister, Mardelle (Robert) Klein, of Marengo, and his nephews, Rick (Lisa) Klein of Cedar Falls and Steve Klein of Marengo.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Lori Ann Warren, and his grandson, Nile Hayden Warren.

Visitation will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at McLaren's for the family to greet friends.
