Robert L. Howe, 77, passed away March 4, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 8, 2010 at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. followed by burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Robert was born May 20, 1932 in Des Moines to John and Ida (Cox) Howe. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Robert was an installer for Northwestern Bell for 35 years before his retirement in 1983 and was a member of the Telephone Pioneer Club. He loved animals, had a green thumb and was a "Jack of all Trades". Robert was unmatched as a father and grandfather, and most importantly, the best friend anyone could have.
Robert is survived by his children, Karen Mackin, Julie Ring, Donald Howe, Barbara Lee Kirkpatrick and Debbie Brambila; sister, Emma Young; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his companion, Wilma Curry.
