John "Jack" Lewis, 68, passed away peacefully at his home on March 4, 2010. Visitation was held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, March 5 at Brooks Funeral Care, 7975 University Blvd, Clive. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 6, at Brooks Funeral Care with burial following at Jordan Cemetery in West Des Moines.
Jack was born on January 8, 1942 in Washington DC to John and Maryrose Lewis. He married Jolene (DeFord) Lewis on February 24, 1968 and retired from the City of West Des Moines after 30 years of service.
He will be missed by his loving wife of 42 years, Jolene; children Jeff (Donna) Lewis and Roxanne Lewis, both of Des Moines, and Jordan Lewis of West Des Moines; two grandchildren, Rusty and Amanda Ozimek; four great-grandchildren, Logan and Mariah Cockerham and Madison and Kolin Ozimek; four brothers, Mick (Roxanne) of AZ, Lon (Denise) of AR, Gary of Melrose, IA and Randy (Vicki) of MO; three sisters, Sue (Lee) Bundy and Lauree (Steve) Douglas, both of West Des Moines; and Teri Lister of AZ.
Preceding Jack in death are his parents, and brother, Bob.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Greater Des Moines Baptist Church.
