Kenneth Klauenburch, 82, died Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at Carlisle Care Center. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, February 22, 2010 at Hamilton's Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW9th Street, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Kenneth was born May 5, 1927 to George and Anna Klauenburch in Des Moines. He graduated from Lincoln High School and served in the Army during WWII. Kenneth managed many restaurants throughout his life including the Argonne Cafe which he owned, Courthouse Cafe, and Connie's Restaurant. In his later years, he worked at Brewer's Meats and Dahl's Grocery Store.
Kenneth was good at all the sports he tried, but had a special love for golf. He was also the Tri-State winner in ping pong.
Kenneth is survived by his son, David klauenburch; granddaughters, Kristina (Jared) Wren and Danielle Harding; great-granddaughter, Lynsie; nieces, Sue Kiplinger and Cindie Henry; many nephews; and a host of beloved friends. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Jimmy; son, Dan; and wife, Donna.
Memorial contributions may be given to the family.

* The obituary fails to mention that he had a brother, Connie, who also preceded him. Connie was well known in the Des Moines area. He was the owner of Connie's which was located on Fleur Drive across from the Des Moines Airport for a good many years.
