Elizabeth Gail Howard, 68, died Tuesday, December 1, 2009, at her home surrounded by her family. Gail was born April 24, 1941, to Laurence and Jessie Moody in Fort Valley, Georgia.

She enjoyed activities that involved others, including bridge club, bowling, and family holiday gatherings. Gail was an avid traveler, and she never tired of seeing the beautiful sites her adventurous trips had to offer.

Gail's life will continue to be celebrated by her devoted husband, Jim Howard; her beloved children, Rick(Nicole)Howard of Des Moines, IA, Heather(Ben)Howard-Knight of Polk City, IA, and Jill(Kirby)Wilson of Naples, FL; four precious grandchildren, Ethan, Seth, Theo, and Blythe Knight; her cherished brother, Floyd(Daphne)Moody; and her loving father, Laurence Moody. She was preceded in death by her mother, Jessie Moody, and daughter, Stacie Anne Howard.

Memorial services will be held 11 a.m., Friday, December 4, 2009, at Ankeny Presbyterian Church, 317 SE Trilein Dr., Ankeny, Iowa. Burial will follow on Monday at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery. A visitation with the family present will be from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, December 3, 2009 at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines.

Memorial contributions may be made to Ankeny Presbyterian Church, National Parks Conservation Association, Sierra Club Foundation, or Taylor House Hospice in loving memory of Gail.
