Harriett Anne Simpson, 62, entered into eternal life on September 23, 2009, at Mercy Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday, September 28, at St. Theresa's Catholic Church, 1230 Merle Hay Road, Des Moines. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, with a vigil service at 7 p.m. at Caldwell Raddatz Funeral Home, 8201 Hickman Road, Urbandale.

Harriett was born March 12, 1947, in Des Moines to Donald and Leona Howard. She married William Simpson on November 6, 1967. She graduated from Mercy School of Nursing in 1969 and worked for Mercy Hospital for 29 years until her retirement in 1999. Harriett was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church of Waukee, and enjoyed her grandkids and reading. She was a loving wife and mother, and was dedicated to God and family.

Harriett is survived by her husband, Bill Simpson; sons Martin (Denise) Simpson, Steven (Julie) Simpson, and Brian Simpson; grandchildren Trent, Nicholas, Alexis, and Riley Simpson; her mother, Leona Swette; and siblings, Diane Smith, Brian Howard, Toni Howard, Mimi Coughlin, Carmen Likins, and Gloria Fletcher. She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Howard.
