Kenneth B. Wheeler, Sr. passed away at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, Iowa, on Monday, July 13, 2009.

Kenneth was born July 17, 1914, in Casey, to Hiram F. Wheeler and Lavina K.(Tiedeman) Wheeler with baptism at the Lutheran Church.

Kenneth married Ruby Fay Stapes May 23, 1934. Ken and Ruby farmed in Guthrie, Audubon and Cass Counties before retiring in 1981. The retirement years were enjoyed with each other, family and friends, while helping many enjoy their lives.

Kenneth will be missed by his wife of over 75 years, Ruby, daughters, Dixie Hunt Schlarbaum(Bob) and Chris Cory, both of Waukee, and son, Kenneth B. Wheeler, Jr. of Grimes. Thirteen grandchildren plus great grandchildren will miss him. He was preceded in passing by daughter, Vivian Joan Brown of Dallas Center and his parents.

The family will be present at Caldwell-Radditz Funeral Home, 8201 Hickman Road, Urbandale, Iowa, Wednesday, July 15, 6 to 8 p.m. Services will be Thursday, July 16, at 2 p.m., at Caldwell-Radditz Funeral Home with burial at Morrisburg Cemetery west of Redfield in Guthrie County.
