Lucille Liljegren, 91, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2009 at Trinity Center at Luther Park. Lucille was born November 22, 1917 to John L. and Essie Howard.
Lucille served in the United States Army as a nurse until her honorable discharge.
Lucille is survived by her step-daughters, Norma Jean Collins and Lavina Schroeder; her step-sons, Norman Holst and Roy Liljegren; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her brother, Harold"Swede"Howard; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Walter Holst and Jim Liljegren; daughter, Rita Holst; a step-daughter, Lavon Romero; a step-son Ray Liljegren; brothers, John H. and Lawrence Howard; and a sister, Hazel Moeckly.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, March 19, 2009 at Ankeny Church of the Brethren, 417 SE Grant St.; visitation will be 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Lincoln Cemetery near Alleman.
Memorial contributions may be made to Ankeny Church of the Brethren or to the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in loving memory of Lucille.
