Janet Marion Beebe, 80, passed from this life on Thursday, September 25, 2008, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, Iowa. A memorial service honoring Janet's life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 4, at Iles Funeral Homes-Westover Chapel in Des Moines. Private committal services will take place at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville, Iowa.
Janet was born on November 14, 1927, in Madrid, Iowa to James Harvey and Lola Ethelyn Stover Wheeler. She was a 1945 graduate of Madrid High School in Madrid, Iowa, and attended AIB College of Business in Des Moines. Janet was united in marriage to Richard ("Dick") Glenn Beebe on June 11, 1954, in Montezuma, Iowa. She was a nurse and a homemaker for many years. Janet was a loving, caring and devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother; she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her son, Thomas Wheeler (Aquila) Crawford of LaHabra, CA; two daughters, Debra Lynn (Michael) Curtis of Round Lake Beach, IL., and Kimberly Diane (Rodney) Shackelford of West Des Moines; one sister, Bettie Krasche, of Woodward, IA; 15 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. Janet was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Richard Beebe; parents; three brothers; two sisters; and one granddaughter, Rebecca Lynne Curtis.
