ADELAIDE "NIKKI" SMITH
Des Moines

Adelaide "Nikki" Smith, a longtime Des Moines resident, died in Chicago July 30.

Mrs. Smith's interests in art and childhood education, along with a sharp sense of humor, were her signature.

Born in Moline, Illinois, Aug. 31, 1912, Mrs. Smith spent her adult life in Iowa. A graduate of the University of Nebraska, Mrs. Smith taught at the Iowa School for the Deaf in Council Bluffs and Smouse School in Des Moines. She was also an accomplished artist, using water colors to depict her love for the Iowa landscape.

She was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church, PEO and Chapter D, TTT.

Adelaide Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Heber; and her son, Tom. She is survived by her daughter, Nikki, and three grandsons: Ray Peterson, Des Moines; Curtis Smith, Chicago; and Gerick Smith, Washington, D.C.

The family suggests that memorials be made to TTT.
