Margaret Ann Heskett Ellis, 76, of Waukee died April 5, 2009. Funeral Services will be held at the Iles Funeral Home ~ Westover Chapel, Thursday, April 9, 2009 at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Promise City Cemetery, Promise City, Iowa.

Margaret Ann was born in Des Moines June 4, 1932, and had lived in Dallas County since 1963. She was a lifetime member of the Iowa State Rabbit and Cavy Breeders Association, a member of the Maple Grove United Methodist Church and Methodist Women, and a Waukee Lion Club member. Margaret Ann served over 15 years as 4-H Rabbit Project Leader. She and her husband, Robert, judged many 4-H Rabbit Shows, and helped start the Iowa State 4-H Rabbit Show at the Iowa State Fair. Margaret Ann received an Honorary 4-H Member Award in 2002 from the Dallas County Extension Office, of which she was very proud.

Margaret Ann studied commercial art in high school and worked at Bell Telephone in the Art Department for five years. She later worked at Dallas County Homecare for 35 years.

For more than five years, Margaret Ann enjoyed cooking for Trinity Inner City Church, with assistance from fellow church members. She ran an annual craft show for over 13 years. Margaret Ann loved her work, animals, gardening, flowers, and her church which was built in 1900. Friends and family that meant so much, and faith sustained Margaret Ann through trials in her life.

Margaret Ann is survived by her husband, Robert L. Ellis; son, Wayne (Lisa) and children, Shawn, Nigel, Nicole and Michael; son, Harold (Linda); and son Brad, and his children, Megan, Tyler and Caleb, and daughter, Gayle (Corrie) and children, Brett, Cayden and Cooper; sister-in-law, Florence Heskett of Michgan, wife of deceased brother, Alvin, and their children, Richard, Sharon, Bill, Jim, Kathy, Allen, Bob and their spouses and children.

A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday evening at Westover Funeral Home. The family would like to thank Dr. Heddinger; Amy, John Stoddard Infusion Department; Dr. Countryman, her home care aids and PHN. In lieu of flowers, Margaret Ann requested memorial contributions be made to the Waukee Lions Club, Leader Dog Program.
