ELSIE FLEENER SERVICES SET

Elsie Fleener, 88, of Des Moines died Tuesday, Jan. 8, at the Luther Park Care Center there.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Smith Funeral Home, with burial in Hickory Grove Cemetery northwest of Grinnell.

She was born June 13, 1896, in Grinnell, the daughter of Newton and Anna Morgart. She attended Grinnell schools.

On Jan. 11, 1916, she was married to James Cass, who died in December 1917. She later married Harry C. Fleener on Aug. 28, 1920, in Grinnell. They lived in Grinnell, Taopi, Minn.; Deep River, and Macon, Mo. Mr. Fleener died in an automobile accident in 1953, and Mrs. Fleener moved to Des Moines.

She is survived by her children, Norma R. Rice of Saylorville, Delmar L. of Newton, Gene A. of Big Bear Lake, Calif., Merrill J. and Eldon of San Jose, Calif., Byron V. of Altoona, and Loren G. of Bellevue, Wash.; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Ben E. Morgart of Kerrville, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands; two grandchildren; one brother, Rolla Morgart; and one sister, Mable Peterson.

NOTE: There are errors in this obituary. She was married to James Cass 01 Nov 1916. James Cass died 24 Oct 1917.
