M.C. Machir Rites are Set
Services for Morton C. Machir, 55, of 1532 E. Grand ave., who died of a heart ailment Monday in a Santa Ana, Cal., hospital, will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Hamilton Funeral Home. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery.
A lifelong Des Moines resident, Mr. Machir had been on vacation in Santa Ana for 10 days. He served in the Navy during World War II and had worked as a pipe layer for several plumbing firms here.
Surviving are his widow, Alberta; three sons, Morton E., Ronald and Victor, and a daughter, Mrs. Jackie Lou Beck , all of Des Moines; two stepsons, Wilton Gravitt of Des Moines and Russell L. Gravitt of Santa Ana; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Maxine Miles and Mrs. Marie Van Zee of Des Moines; a sister, Mrs. Helyn Varland of Saudi Arabia, and 15 grandchildren.
