IOWA STATE REGISTER, May 9, 1875

FUNERAL SERVICE. The funeral of MR. RALPH SELBY will take place from the family residence, 908 Walker Street, East Des Moines, this morning (9th) at 10 o'clock. Services at Wesley Chapel M.E. Church, at 10:30, whence the procession will repair to the West Side Cemetery. The friends and acquaintance cordially invited.
Mr. Selby was born in Piqua county, Ohio, in 1812; lived with his father in Seneca county. The family emigrated to Lagrange county, Indiana, in 1836 where, in 1840, Mr Selby united in marriage with MISS CATHERINE ROBBINS; removed to Branch county, Michigan in 1863; thence to Story county, Iowa in 1868; and has resided in East Des Moines since 1872.
Mr S leaves the companion of this youth, two married sons, and two married daughters, the former residents of Des Moines, to mourn the loss of an affectionate and faithful husband and father.
Mr S was a man of uprightness and sterling integrity, ever respecting the claims of humanity and of God. He died Saturday morning (8th) at 2 o'clock, in the 63rd year of his age.
