IOWA STATE REGISTER, May 9, 1875

DEATH OF MR. LOVEJOY, one of the oldest citizens of Des Moines, and a man highly esteemed, died at his residence, on Tenth Street, yesterday morning. He had been ill several month with consumption. Mr. Lovejoy came to Des Moines about 1851, and had been an active business man up to within a short time of his death. Two years since he served a term in the City Council. He was a man of quiet, unobtrusive habit, sterling honesty and good principles. The funeral will take place to-day as announced elsewhere, from the late residence on Tenth Street, north of school
