MITCHELLVILLE - Funeral services for Jennie Van Maanen Brandhof, 89, of Altoona Manor, a former longtime resident of Mitchellville, will be held at 10 am. Monday, Dec. 27, at the Prairie City Christian Reformed Church.

The Rev. Sheldon Starkenberg, pastor of the church, will conduct services.

Burial will be in Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City.

Memorials to the church will be accepted.

Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Brandhof died Thursday at the Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines.

Survivors are two sons, William and Edward, both of Mitchellville; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are a sister, Cora (Mrs. Milo) Bishop of Des Moines and a brother, Casey Van Maanen of Altoona.

Mrs. Brandhof was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John, four brothers, Bert Pete, John and William, and a sister, Aartje Beyer.

The daughter of John and Antje Van Doorn Van Maanen, she was born Feb. 8, 1904 in Veenendaal, The Netherlands, and came to the United States at the age of 12 with her parents who settled in Pella.

She was married to John Brandhof Feb. 2, 1929. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, December 1993
