Hello-
Please note the State of Iowa did not officially start keeping records of individuals until 1880.
I have been to the courthouse in Pocahontas and I don't recall seeing birth records prior to 1880. I may be wrong.
I don't wish to discourage you, and you may have luck with a church record or something.
But it is doubtful you will find a birth record prior to 1880 in the courthouse.
