Hello-
According to Flickinger, as stated in the History of Pocahontas County-
"It (Gilmore City) is on the line of the Des Moines and Ruthven branch of the C.R.I. & P. Ry, and was named in honor of its superintendent, C.N. Gilmore of Des Moines." (See page 623 of the book) Tim
