In "Pocahontas Record-Democrat" newspaer of May 9, 1935 in a column of Fonda news found the following.

Johnson Smith a well known resident of this community, where he has lived for 23 years, passed away at his home Northwest of Fonda on Tuesday, April 30. Mr. Smith had been in failing health for the past 2 years. He was 73 years of age and survived by his wife and a large family of children. Funeral services were held Thursday p.m. at 2:30 in the Presbyterian Church with Rev. McMican in charge. Burial in Cedar Cemetery.

In WPA cemetery records middle initial is B.

Phone number for Library is 712-288-4466 they might be able to help with who else to contact about the family. The church doesn't seem to be there any more but somebody must have the old records.
