Lyle Gerald Foster, son of Ernest and Elizabeth Fuchs Foster, was born Feb. 19, 1928 at Wonda, MN. The family moved to a farm north of Laurens in 1929. In 1949 they moved to a farm north of Ware.

He married LaVonne Shaveland in 1950 at Mallard, Iowa. They spent 10 years farming near Mallard. He taught at Des Moines Township, Mallard, Havelock, Plover, Rolfe, Pocahontas, and Sioux City for a total of 39 years. He taught 20 years in the Pocahontas school system.

Survivors include: wife LaVonne of TN, son Rick of TN, and daughter Jane of Des Moines.
