Laurens Sun, Laurens, Pocahontas, Iowa, USA December 29, 1921

Mrs. W. R. Mather

Emma E. Bohn was born at Mt. Carroll, Carroll county, Illinois, December 21, 1866, and died at her home in Laurens, December 25, 1921, aged 55 years and 4 days.

In her childhood her parents moved to Dallas Center, Iowa, and from there to a farm north of Havelock. From that time she has been a continuous resident of Pocahontas county. Shortly after moving to this county, she met William R. Mather, who was then living with his parents on the old Mather homestead four miles east of Laurens. She was married to him November 25, 1886, and shared with him the hardships of pioneer days. The next spring they moved to the farm two miles east of Laurens, which was their home until eight years ago when they moved to their present home in Laurens.

Her father and mother, three brothers and two sisters and Glenn Robert, a son of six years have preceded her to the other shore. There remains to mourn her loss her husband, William R. Mather; three children: William Ray, Benjamin I., and Elva May Mather of this place; three brothers: Frank Bohn of Mallard; John Bohn, a twin brother, of Long Beach, California, Charles Bohn of Hewitt, Minnesota, and one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Maddan of Pleasanton, Kansas. Besides the members of her immediate family, she leaves to cherish her memory four grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

In a quiet, unassuming way, Mrs. Mather has been filling a large place in the hearts and lives of those with whom she has been associated. At an early age she affiliated with the Church of God and later transferred her affiliation to the Methodist Episcopal church, where she remained a conscientious and faithful member until the Heavenly summons came. Each Sunday when in health found her in her place in the Loyal Workers Sunday School Class and in the regular church services.

As the bells announced the dawn of Christmas Day, her spirit quietly slipped away to meet her Heavenly Father. Cheerful, quiet, appreciative and ever ready to lend a hand, her life
remains a true example of Christian devotion and faith.

The funeral services were held from the Methodist church Tuesday afternoon and were in charge of Rev. W. H. Lease. Burial was made in the family lot in the Laurens Cemetery.

Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of
farewell,
When I embark;
For tho' from out our bourne of
Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
