Funeral Services Held For Ray E Green

Conducted by Rev. C. R. Buckwalter in Methodist Church

Funeral services for Ray E. Green who died at Humboldt Wednesday, February 9, after a long illness, were held the Methodist church Monday afternoon, February 14, and were conducted by the pastor, Rev. Charles Buckwalter. Two songs, "In The Sweet Bye and Bye" and "No Night There", were sung by Mrs. Grant Johnson, Mrs. M. R. Soth and George Marine. They were accompanied at the pipe organ by Mrs. N. J. Bixler.

Serving as pall bearers were Wilbur Roberts, Luther Thompson, Alfred Miller, Harry Dickey and A. G. Sroufe. Mrs. Alta Hewlett, Mrs. J. C. Brogotti and Miss Eloise Hewlett were charge of the flowers. Burial was made in Clinton-Garfield cemetery.

Raymond Ezra Green, son of Emily and Ezra Green, was born January 22, 1881, at Denison, Iowa, and died at Humboldt February 9, 1944 at the age of 63 years and 18 days. He was united in marriage to Mary Ursula Goodchild of Havelock, November 27, 1902, and to this union were born nine children, all but one of whom survive him. Viola Mable died at the age of 8 years.

He was baptized in and became a member of the Methodist church at Denison.

Surviving him are his wife; eight children, Annette of West Bend, Mrs. Lucille Learned of San Diego, Calif., Mrs. Fae Torkelson of Rutland, Mrs. Ruby Brewster of Fort Dodge, Donald E. Green, petty officer first class of the U. S. Navy Air Corps, Edward Green of North Chicago, 111., Mrs. Anne Christensen of Hampton, Va, and Lolabeth of Waukegan, 111.; eight grandchildren, Happy Learned, Mary, Karen, Alice Ann and David Torkelson, Terry and Margareth Green and Betty Ann Christensen; one brother, Dwight E. of Vail, Iowa, and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends from out of town who attended the funeral were: Miss Annette Green, West Bend; Mrs. T. B. Torkelson, Mary, Karen and Alice Ann, Rutland; Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Brewster, Fort Dodge; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Green, Monterey, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Edward Green, North Chicago, 111.; Miss Lolabeth Green, Waukegan, 111.; Sadie and Ned Goodchild, Havelock; Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Green, Vail; Oliver Cook, Dow City; Mr. and Mrs. S. C. Christensen, Mallard; Mr. and Mrs. Mandius Hansen and Arlene, and Mr. and Mrs. Berger Dale, Bode.
