Mrs. Nellie Runyan passed away Tuesday morning April 21, 1942 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Fred Schuler at Marathon.
Nellie Frazer was born near Aberdeen, Scotland on July 4, 1865. At the age of eight years she came to this country from Scotland and made her home. On July 4, 1882 she was united in marriage with William C. Runyan and they made their home in Boone county until 1887 when they moved to Pocahontas county near Laurens.
To Mr. and Mrs. Runyan were born five children, Oscar W. Runyan of Fort Dodge, Mrs. Alta Schuler of Marathon, James C. Runyan and Mrs. Chester King of Laurens and Clyde Runyan who died Oct. 3, 1918.
For three years following Mr. Runyan's death on May 4, 1934, Mrs. Runyan has lived alone, but has made her home with children for the past five years.
She was active member of the Church of Christ and the American Legion Auxiliary and was a World War Gold Star Mother.
