OBITUARY
Lawrence M. Runneberg passed away September 25 at the Good Samaritan Center in Laurens following a long illness. He reached the age of 85 years, 10 months and 13 days.
Lawrence was born November 12,1904 on a farm north of Laurens, the son of Nels and Alma Runneberg. He attended Cummings #3 rural school and graduated from the Laurens High School in 1923. Lawrence loved to play footbsll and attended an extra semester of high school in the fall of 1923 so he could play football. He was named to the All State honor roll. Lawrence attended Coe College in Cedar Rapids for one year.
Lawrence was married to Alma Skogstrqm on March 15,1926 at Humboldt and started faming on the farm where he was born. He lived there until his retirement in 1967 when they moved lo Lake Okoboji, spending their summers at the lake and the winters in Apache Junction, Arizona.
Lawrence is survived by his wife, Alma, two sons, Darwin of Spirit Lake and Loraine of Curlew: two daughters, Carolyn (Mrs. Thomas Perry) and Helen (Mrs. Robert Jolliffe) of Laurens, five grandsons, Tjcran Jolliffe, Laurens, Terry Perry, White Bear Lake, Minn., Craig Jolliffe, Dayton, Ohio, Del Runneberg, Forest City, IA, Scott Runneberg, California; two granddaughters, Kimberly Perry, Dubuque, IA, Gayle Thompson, Cedar Falls, IA; five great-grandsons; four great-granddaughters; a brother, Emmitt, Laurens; and a sister, Mrs. Alice Bohn, Ayrshire, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Lawrence, Jr.; a grandson, Rodney; two sisters. Florence and Petunia; and two brothers, Carl and Arnold.
