Mary Sherman Fuller was born in Langworthy, Ia., on May 1, 1865, and died May 31, 1959. Her parents were Perry H. Sherman and Jerusha Sherman.
Mary was the oldest daughter of a family of eight children of whom one sister survives, Nelly Mayer of Medford, Ore. Mary Sherman graduated from Langworthy High School and later attended a Seminary for young ladies.
She married Omer Fuller when she was 21. They established a home a short distance from Langworthy. Later they moved to Anamosa, Ia., where Omer and his brother, Frank, engaged in the mercantile business. Still later, they settled permanently in Rolfe.
Mary Fuller was interested in the finer arts of life. She loved good books and good poetry. Dickens' novels and the poems of Matthew Arnold were among her favorites and she read them to her children. Knowing that it would be her wish, the memorial that has been given, is being donated to the library.
She painted water colors and oils and also worked in ceramics. She loved flowers and all her life always had a garden.
She leaves behind her a son and two daughters: Omer B. Fuller, Jr., and Dr. Florence Fuller White, both of Rolfe, and Ruth Fuller Sergel of Chicago, Ill. She leaves six grandchildren E.C. White, Jr., of Rolfe; Christopher Sergel of New York; Clark and Sherman Sergel of Chicago; Mary Fuller Munger of Ridgeway, Colo., and Shirley Fuller Flinders of Sutherland, Ia.
