ANTON AUSBERGER

Fonda lost another of its older and highly respected citizens, when death claimed for its own Anton Ausberger. Death came about 5:00 o'clock last Sunday morning, following a few hours illness.

Mr. Ausberger had been down town Saturday evening, returning home about 9:00 o'clock. A short time later he complained of not feeling well, and retired. Members of his family attended to his wants during the night, and his condition was not thought to be alarming. However, shortly before 5:00 o'clock Sunday morning, he called for a drink of water. He passed away shortly afterward, death coming peacefully.

Mr. Ausberger had been enjoying fairly good health, although he was subject to ailments during the past two years, but was always able to be up and around. He was 71 years, six months and twenty-three days of age at the time of his death.

Funeral services were in the Community Church, Tuesday afternoon, January 31st, at 2:30, the pastor, Rev. Edward A. Lang conducting the same, assisted by Rev. Luke of the Presbyterian Church. Interment was in Cedar Cemetery

Anton Ausberger was born Jul 6, 1856 in Germany. When he was about 12 years of age, he came with his parents to America in 1868.

He was united in marriage to Melissa McVay, February the 18th, 1886, near Montezuma, Iowa. They made their home for four years on a farm near Jefferson, Iowa, then moved in the spring of 1890 to a farm five miles south of Fonda.

Six children were born to Mr and Mrs Ausberger, four daughters and two sons. One son died in infancy. Mrs Ausberger passed away July 27th, 1911. THE following year Mr Ausberger moved with his children to Fonda where he has since made his home.

Mr Ausberger is survived by one brother, Mark Ausberger of Jefferson, Iowa, a sister, Mrs Knapp of Rockwell City, Iowa, four daughters who live in Fonda; Mrs Russell Rouze, Mrs Jessie Archer, Mrs James Acheson, and Mrs Nellie Reed, also one son, Lee Ausberger of Fonda.
