Ila Charlotte Scrogum, daughter of Charles and Grace (Dickens) Scrogum, was born January 26, 1908, at McGregor, Iowa. She passed away February 26, 1994, at Pocahontas Community Hospital, Pocahontas Iowa, at age 86 years and 1 month.

Ila attended school in McGregor and graduated from McGregor High School in 1926. After graduation from Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa, she taught school in Mallard, Iowa, for two years and Rawlins, Wyoming, for four years.

On September 21, 1934, Ila married Elroy Runneberg at services in McGregor, Iowa. They farmed southwest of Mallard for many years. In 1991 they moved to Laurens and Ila entered the Good Samaritan Center in 1992.

Ila was a member of the United Methodist Church of Laurens, the Eastern Star Chapter of Plover, Past president of the Mallard P.T.A. and served as chairman of the W.S.C.S. (Womens Service to Christian Society)in Mallard. She also enjoyed sewing, knitting, and crocheting.

Survivors include her husband Elroy of Laurens; son Charles (Roberta) of Madrid, Iowa; daughter, Marian of Chicago, Illinois: granddaughters Lisa (Russell) Herrstrom, Lori Runneberg, great grandson Travis Herrstrom all of Madrid; and a sister, Vivian Lee of Mapleton, Iowa.

Ila was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Earl W. Scrogum.

Pallbearers were Bill Baxter, Russell Herrstrom, Lee Bailey, Raymond Reinders. Paul Crotty, and Jerry Runneberg.

Interment in the Laurens Cemetery, Laurens, Iowa.
