Clara Belle Wood

Clara Belle Wood was born to William Allen Wood and Betsey Jane Waterbury on February ?, 1870 in New York, NY. She was the youngest of five children. In 1887 she became pregnant with a baby girl who was born on 12 October 1887, Clara was only 16 years old. I have discovered that the father of the baby was Clara’s older brother Charles Irving Wood I. I was told by my grandmother that her grandmother, Clara, was sent to the South Dakota area from New York to give birth to the baby. I am desperately trying to find out who she might have lived with during her confinement. So far I have been unable to find anything.

Because her mother was a Waterbury I was thinking that she may have been shipped off to stay with one of the family members who just moved west to that area.
