VANDERWORKERVANDAWORKER

I have been searching Cyrus Joseph Vanderworker.
(many spellings)
And found Cyrus and wife Alice along with their 4 children living in Kingsley. He was an auctioneer.
The 1925 Census shows him living with many many people.
My question is what kind of establishment would that have been.
None of the families in the list are even listed together.
