Burt King Mason

I am seeking information about my Grandfather Burt King Mason. According to his WWII Draft record he was born in LeMars, Iowa on October 12, 1879. Family lore has him being an orphan. It also has him playing semi-pro baseball, being paid as an umpire and working on the railroad. I can not find any trail prior to the 1930 census where he appears in Franklin County, PA. At some point prior to 1930 he was in Watertown, Jefferson Conty, NY.
