Obituaries--Willis Tullis

Willis Tullis, 78, of Merrill, died Monday (Nov. 8, 1982), in a Sioux City hospital after a long illness.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Merrill United Methodist church. Rev. Donald Bardole will officiate. Burial will be in the Merrill Hillside cemetery.

There will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Mauer funeral home in LeMars.

Mr. Tullis was born Feb. 5, 1904, near Akron to John and Ida Burrill Tullis.

Mr. Tullis lived most of his life in the country and went to the Merrill-LeMars area to live with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Tullis who raised him after his parents were deceased.

He married Ora F. Woodley Dec. 22, 1928, in Sioux City. He was employed at various businesses in the Merrill area, retiring several years ago.

He was a member of the Merrill United Methodist church, a former member of the town council and fire department and a former town marshal.

Survivors are his wife; two sons, Lowell of Dallas, Texas and Beryl of Ottawa, Ill.; three daughters, Mrs. Lowell (Norma) Phillips of Merrill, Mrs. Robert (Verda) Frahm of Sergeant Bluff and Mrs. Ben (VerJean) Luense of Springfield, Minn.; two brothers, Arthur of Madison, S.D. and Ralph of Gig Harbor, Wash.; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, George and a sister, Esther.
