Obituaries--Ora F. Tullis

Ora F. Tullis, 92, of LeMars, died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 1999, at the Brentwood Good Samaritan Center in LeMars.

Ora Fern Woodley was born April 12, 1907, the daughter of David and Fanny L. (Simmons) Woodley. Ora graduated from Liberty Consolidated High School near Merrill, and then continued her schooling at Morningside College in Sioux City. On Dec. 22, 1928, she married Willis John Tullis in Sioux City. Ora taught country school in Plymouth County for a number of years and later went to work as a seamstress for Aalf's Manufacturing in 1953. She retired from Aalf's in the early 1970's.

She was a longtime member of the Merrill United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. Ora enjoyed her family, crocheting and playing cards.

Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Norma and Lowell Philips (sic--Phillips) of Merrill, Verda and Robert Frahm of Sergeant Bluff, and VerJean and Ben Luense of Springfield, Minn.; a son and daughter-in-law, Beryl and Madeline Tullis of Ottawa, Ill.; three sisters, Doris Clark, Joyce and her husband, Robert Lanagan, and Beverly and her husband, Warren Livengood, all of Sioux City; two brothers, Chester Woodley of McCook Lake, S. D., and Merlin and his wife, Helen Woodley, of Phoenix, Ariz.; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Willis in 1982; a son, Lowell Tullis; three sisters, Erma Kelly, Leona Wright and Margie Eberhard; two brothers, Milo and Elwyn Woodley; and a great-grandson, Ryan Robbins.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Merrill United Methodist Church with the Rev. Sue Thomas officiating. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery, Merrill. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Friday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in LeMars.

Pallbearers will be Derald Philips (sic--Phillips), Brad Luense, Steve Tullis, Paul Frahm, Dawn Dries, Terri Robbins, Linda Pubentz and Cheryl Damron. Honorary pallbearers will be Delvin Chamberlain, Dennis Chamberlain, David Tullis, Renee Reynolds and Dianna Miller.
