Life's End
NELSON JEFFERS, 80, DIES--WAS LONGTIME LETTER CARRIER HERENelson W. Jeffers, 80, longtime LeMars rural letter carrier who retired 10 years ago, died Sunday morning at Sacred Heart hospital after several years of failing health. He had been hospitalized 10 days.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Luken's funeral home. Rev. James Ransom of the First Presybterian church will officiate. Burial will be in the city cemetery.
Mr. Jeffers was born Dec. 8, 1878, at Cabery, Ill. He had resided in Plymouth county since coming here in 1892. Mr. Jeffers had served as a rural letter carrier for 40 years.
Surviving are a brother, Fred, of Sioux City; two nieces and a nephew. Mr. Jeffers was never married.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Silas and Rose Barber Jeffers.
