FRED W. JEFFERS--FORMER RESIDENT
IS FOUND DEAD SATURDAY AT SIOUX CITY HOTEL

Fred W. Jeffers, 75, former LeMars resident, was found dead late Saturday afternoon in his room at the Pierce Street hotel in Sioux City.

Dr. Thomas L. Coriden, Woodbury county medical examiner, attributed death to a coronary attack. Although Mr. Jeffers had been a heart patient for some time, he regularly made business calls in LeMars.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tusday at Luken's funeral home here. Rev. J. D. Ransom of the First Presbyterian church will officiate. Burial will be in the city cemetery.

Early Saturday afternoon W. R. Brown, hotel manager, said he saw Mr. Jeffers on the street and did not think he looked well. The body later was discovered by Mrs. Brown after a knock on his door was not answered.

Mr. Jeffers was born Sept. 7, 1886, at Belle Plaine, Iowa. At one time he had been a hotel clerk at Sheldon, and later a night clerk at the Chicago House hotel in Sioux City. He was a member of the Improved Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Piotrowski of North Tonawanda, N. Y., and Miss Winifred Jeffers of Hyattsville, Md.; a son, Donald N. of Hyattsville, Md., and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Silas and Rose Ann Barber Jeffers; one brother and a son.
