Betty Winterringer, 94 of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2022 at the Good Samaritan Society in Le Mars.
Memorial Service will be 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars with Reverend Bruce Lawler officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Rexwinkel Funeral Home.In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Plymouth County Historical Museum in Le Mars (335 1st Ave SW Le Mars, IA 51031).
Betty Lou Mook was born on April 11. 1928 in Merrill, Iowa to Roy and Frances (Frangenberg) Mook. She attended and graduated in 1946 from St. Joseph’s High School in Salix, Iowa. She was united in marriage to John Winterringer on June 19, 1948, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Salix. The couple farmed near Salix for a short time and Betty also worked at Johnson Biscuit Company in Sioux City. In 1961, they moved to Le Mars. Betty enjoyed providing in-home housekeeping services for many families in Le Mars for over 50 years.
Betty loved flower gardening, calligraphy, baking, and doing family history research. She and John were volunteers and members for many genealogy clubs including: Sioux County genealogy club, Woodbury County genealogy club, Northwest Iowa genealogy club, and Iowa State genealogy club. John and Betty were extremely active at the Plymouth County Historical Museum in Le Mars. She was a long-time member of St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars. Betty also was a member of the Floyd Valley Garden Club in Le Mars, Iris Society in Sioux City, and Friends of the Library Club in Le Mars.
Betty is survived by her sons: Dennis (Celia) Winterringer of Apalachicola, FL and Mark (Jane) Winterringer of Yankton, SD; two grandchildren, Jesse (Katie) Winterringer of Erie, CO, and Nathaniel Winterringer of Westminster, CO; three great grandchildren: Harper, Elijah, and Isaiah; sisters: Patty (Robert) Larson and Sheryl (David) Pyle; sister in law, Charlotte Mook; and other extended relatives.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; sister, Evelyn (Eugene) Eppel; and brothers: Lloyd (Dorothy) Mook, Harold Mook, Dewayne (Dee) Mook, and James (Nadine) Mook.
