Sadie E. Hettwer Sadie E. Hettwer, 99, of Le Mars, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004, at the Brentwood Good Samaritan Center in Le Mars.
Sadie E. Hettwer was born Nov. 1, 1904, in Bloomfield, Neb., the daughter of J. H. and Theresa (Klosner) Grothe. Sadie was raised in Bloomfield and later moved to Le Mars as a young lady. She met and later married Joe Hettwer. Sadie and Joe were the parents of nine children. Sadie’s life was centered around family and friends. She enjoyed her Saturday morning coffee visits from family and neighbors. In later years, she enjoyed her outings to Sioux City and Sloan. Throughout the years, Sadie enjoyed the many visits from her church family. She was a longtime member of St. James Catholic Church and the Eagles Auxiliary.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Marion Hettwer of Sioux Falls, S.D., Ken and Shirley Hettwer of Le Mars, and Richard and Darlene Hettwer of Evansville, Ind.; four daughters and sons-in-law, DeLores Hoxsie, Carolene Petersen, Mary and and Wilbur Louie _ Luschen and Kay Fiedler and her special friend, Jerry, all of Le Mars; 29 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Elmer Grothe of California; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Joe in 1969; a son, Raymond Hettwer; a daughter, Judy Dreckman; and two step-daughters, Magdalina_ Ritchie Erna Earnest.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 am. Friday at St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars with the Rev. James Tigges officiating. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today (Thursday) at the St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars with a 4 p.m. Scriptural wake service followed by a 7 p.m. parish rosary Thursday evening at the church. Funeral arrangements are with the Carlsen Funeral Home of Le Mars. Pallbearers will be Keith Hettwer, Brian Hettwer, Mike Petersen, Gary Hoxsie, Mark Luschen and Andy Fiedler.
