Russell P. Gronemeyer

Russell Frederick Gronemeyer, 63, of Tripoli, Iowa, died Thurs day, August 3, 1995 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa, following a brief illness.

Services were held Monday, August 7, at the Grace Lutheran Church in Tripoli with the Rev. Darrel Gerrietts officiating. Graveside services were held Tuesday, August 8, at Pleasant View Cemetery in Meriden, Iowa. Military rites were provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4013 of Tripoli and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2253 of Cherokee. Rettig Funeral Home, Tripoli, was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Gronemeyer was born July 26. 1932, in Akron, the son of William and Evelyn (Smith) Gronemeyer. He was baptized May 6, 1936, and confirmed Jan. 1. 1947, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Craig. He attended Craig school. He served as a corporal in the 16th Infantry, U.S. Army, In Germany from May 14, 1953 until April 27, 1955. June 3, 1956, he married Verlee Burch at the Marcus Methodist Church in Marcus. He was a service and sales representative for Massey Ferguson, Western Combine and MACDON. His work allowed him to travel to many countries around the world. He was a longtime Tripoli resident, and was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, the Tripoli V.F.W. Post 4013, and the Wapsie Sportsmen's Club.

Survivors include his wife; his mother, Evelyn Gronemeyer of Le Mars; two sons, Mark Gronemeyer of Winterset and Bruce Gronemeyer of Tripoli; two daughters, Debra Liddle of Meriden and Brenda Hunemuller of Tripoli; nine grandchildren; one brother, Glenn Gronemeyer of Hawarden; four sisters, Jean Hartman of Le Mars, Millie Wlnterfeld of Elkhorn, Neb., Edith Sechler of Meriden and Norma Flint of Wilmer, Ala.

He was preceded in death by his father and one sister, Dorothy Semple.
