Emma Hentges
Emma Hentges, 86, lifelong Le Mars resident, died Friday (Oct. 23, 1981) at Marian Health center, Sioux City, after an illness of several months. She had been hospitalized a month.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic church in Le Mars. Rev. Francis Staber will officiate and burial will be in Calvary cemetery under direction of the Luedtke funeral home in Le Mars. A prayer service will be held at 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Em Hentges was the last surviving member of her immediate family of nine.
She was born Nov. 21, 1894, in Le Mars to Nicholas and Anna Wagner Hentges. She graduated from the University of Chicago and received her master’s in education at the University of Colorado at Greeley.
Miss Hentges taught in the Hibbing, Minn. schools for 35 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, John A., Clem, Dan, William and Leo, and by three sisters, Cleo, Helen and Regina.
Survivors are a niece, Mary Ann Robinson, Prescott, Ariz.; four nephews, William and Dick Hentges, both of Santa Ana, Calif.; John N. Hentges, Le Mars, and Thomas Hentges of Burlington, Wis.
