Clementine Hentges, 101, died Sunday at the Brentwood Good Samaritan Center, Le Mars, where she had been a resident since 1976.

Ms. Hentges was the last survivor of one of Le Mars’ early pioneer families, the John and Mary Berg Hentges. Her father was one of the first settlers of Le Mars in 1870 and he was involved in the founding of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

Clementine Hentges was born on April 18, 1890, in Le Mars. She graduated from Le Mars public schools and attended Clark College, Dubuque, and Trinity College, Washington, D.C.

Services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 31, at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Church with Rev. Dale J. George conducting the services. Burial will be at the Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday morning at the Luedtke-Feuerstein Funeral Home.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews, including Mrs. L.C. O’Toole, Le Mars, Margaret Hoffman of Denver, Dr. Karl Hoffman, Carroll, and Dr. David Hentges, Lubbock, Tex.; several grand nieces and grand nephews.

She was preceded in death by seven brothers and three sisters.
