Jerry Wurth

Gerald T. Wurth, 59, of Le Mars, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2002, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars.

Jerry was born March 15, 1942, at Los Angeles, Calif., the son of Louis N. and Mary (Ruether) Wurth. He was raised in Le Mars and attended At. Joseph's Parochial School. He married Janice Schroeder of Remsen on June 2, 1962, in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen.

Jerry was well-known antique dealer and was a co-owner/operator of T & J Antiques in LeMars for many years.

He was an active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Le Mars, where he had served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years. Jerry was also very involved for a number of years with the Plymouth County Disaster Services.

Jerry loved people and visiting, and never failed to tell others he loved them. Family was very important to him. He was involved in daycare with his wife, and enjoyed taking the children for walks and to the park.

Survivors include his wife Janice of Le Mars; two sons and their wives, Kelly and Brandy Wurth of Beresford, S.D., and Brad and Darcy Wurth of Le Mars; four grandsons, Ryan, Mitchell, Jade, and Austin Wurth; his father Louis Wurth of Le Mars; 10 sisters and brothers, Cathy and Lonnie Gusa of Sioux City; John and Kathy Wurth of Spring Grove, Ill., Ted and Geri Wurth of Green Bay, Wis.; Nick Wurth of Garland, Texas; Teresa Wurth of Spencer; Mary Lou and Fritz Donlin of Merrill; Jean and Joe Ryba of Seney; Ann Mosher of South Sioux City, Neb.; Lisa and Don Claeys of Sioux City, and Barb Niehus of LeMars; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother Mary Wurth; a daughter, Angie Wurth; and a granddaughter, Ashley.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in LeMars with the Rev. Andrew Hoffman presidency. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in LeMars. Friends may call anytime after 2 p.m. Friday at the Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars. A rosary will be held at 4 p.m. and the Scriptural Wake service at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
