Le MARS -- Roy J. Lyman, 78, of Le Mars died Friday, Aug. 22, 2003, at his residence.
Roy Jay Lyman was born Aug. 20, 1925, at Mason City to Roy D. and Martha (Jackson) Lyman. Roy was united in marriage to Donna Woodyard on Sept. 6, 1968, at Mason City. He worked for the Chicago-Northwestern Railroad in Mason City for several years until moving to Le Mars in 1977. In Le Mars, Roy worked for Plymouth Life until his retirement on May 31, 1990.
He enjoyed golfing and music and will be remembered for his compassion for all who lived and worked at Plymouth Life.
Roy was a member of the Le Mars Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Donna of Le Mars; his mother-in-law, Marie Woodyard of Le Mars; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Richard and Dorothy Porter of Le Mars, Reuben and Ellen Evenson of Newburgh, Ind., Douglas and Joanne Higgins of Clarinda; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Roy D. and Martha Lyman; and two brothers, Richard and Ora Lyman.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars with Pastor Matt Wentz of the Le Mars Church of Christ officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation is after 2 p.m. today (Monday) at the funeral home with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service tonight (Monday). Visitations will continue at the funeral home Tuesday morning until service time.
Pallbearers will be Chris Higgins, Douglas Evenson, Michael Porter, Michael Kinney, Tom Pace and Brent Degase.
