Beatrice H. Borchers, 93, of Ireton, died Friday, March 25, 2005, at the Akron Care Center in Akron.

Beatrice Helen Eilts was born July 19, 1911, on the family farm near Ireton, the daughter of William and Adeline (Vander Hamm) Eilts. Bee was baptized on Aug. 20, 1911, and confirmed on Aug. 14, 1928, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Reading Township, near Ireton.

She began her education at a country school North of Craig and later graduated from Ireton High School. She furthered her education at Iowa State University in Ames and later competed her teaching requirements at Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. She returned to the Craig area and taught at the same country school she attended.

Bea was united in marriage to Louis Borchers on March 14, 1931, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sioux City. Bee and Louis farmed in Preston Township until their retirement in 1976. They enjoyed spending the winter months in Pharr, Texas and the summer months at their lake home at Lake Shetek, Minnesota. In 1998, shortly after her 87th birthday, she suffered a stroke and later made her home at the Akron Care Center.

Bee was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church in Craig where she belonged to the W.E.L.C.A and participated in other church activities. She always treasured the time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren throughout the years.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Lloyd and Lorraine Borchers of Le Mars; a daughter and son-in-law, Maurine and John Laux of Omaha, Neb.; a daughter-in-law, Inez Borchers of Ireton; eight grandchildren, David Borchers and his wife Becky, Deb Juffer and her husband Ron, Russell Borchers and his wife Teresa, Laurie Hartgraves and her husband Jim, Elizabeth Cooley and her husband Jeff, Tina Reuter and her husband Charles, Jason Laux, Gina Terpstra and her husband Scott; 13 great-grandchildren and many friends.

Bee was preceded in death by her parents, William and Adeline (Vander Hamm) Eilts; her husband, Louis Borchers on Sept. 26, 1992; and a son, Myron Borchers in 1991.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Craig, with the Rev. Pete Petersen officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitations will be after 3 p.m. today (Monday) at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars. The family will be present to greet friends after 5 p.m. Monday followed by a 6:30 p.m. prayer service at the funeral home. Visitation will continue at the church from 9:30 a.m. to service time.

Pallbearers will be David Borchers, Ron Juffer, Russell Borchers, David Hanson, Jason Laux, and Jeff Cooley.
