Mrs., Melvin (Leona) Pitts, 58, lifelong Plymouth county resident, died Sunday (May 18, 1980) at Plymouth Manor care center where she had lived the last three weeks. She had a lengthy illness.

Leona Wilier was born Nov. 2, 1922. at Akron to Frank and Nora Scanlon Willer. She attended Gehlen and LeMars Community schools.

Her marriage to Melvin Pitts took place Sept. 21, 1945, at Elk Point. She was a member of St. James parish.

Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. James with Rev. George McFadden officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery under the direction of the Luken-Johnson funeral home. The parish rosary will be recited at. 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Survivors are her husband, Melvin; a son, Tom Pitts and a son, Larry. Landgraf; a daughter, Mrs. Judy Lang; her mother, Mrs. Nora Willer; two sisters, Mrs. Walter (Kay) Ladenthin and Mrs. Marvin (Lavina) Klave and five grandchildren, all of Le Mars.

She was preceded in death by her father; a son, Daryl; a brother, Francis Willer and a sister, Margaret Wells.
