Dale Huls, 68, of Le Mars, Iowa passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at his home in Le Mars following a lengthy battle with cancer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at All Saints Parish – St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars. Reverend Kevin Richter will celebrate Mass with Reverend Richard Ries concelebrating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will be after 4:00 p.m. Monday, June 12, 2017, with a Parish Rosary at 5:00 p.m., and a Scriptural Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m., all at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. Visitation will resume from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Tuesday at the church. Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com.

Dale John Huls was born February 24, 1949 in Le Mars, Iowa, the son of Floyd and Marcella “Marcie” (Orban) Huls. He attended school in Le Mars and graduated from Gehlen Catholic High School in 1967. He attended trade school in Sheldon, Iowa before joining his father in the family business, Plymouth Plumbing and Heating.

He was united in marriage to Dianne Murray on November 21, 1970 in Laurens, Iowa.

Dale continued in the family business until 2002. He then started Heartland Metal Works, Inc. in Le Mars. He owned and operated the business until retiring due to his health.

He was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars. He volunteered with the Le Mars Fire Department for 10 years. He was a charter member of the Northwest Iowa Tractor Pullers Association. He and his family enjoyed participating in tractor pulls for many years. Dale had a passion for restoring classic cars and he enjoyed attending car shows with the Tri-State Cruisers. He was an innovator of many things throughout his life, if you couldn’t buy it, he could make it! But most of all, he loved the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of over 46 years, Dianne of Le Mars; a son: Paul (Mary) Huls of Sioux City, Iowa, and their children, Brekka and Briley; a son: Shaun (Minisa) Huls of Marlton, NJ, and their children, Misa and Kenji; two brothers: Darwin (Linda) Huls of Le Mars and Dave (Torrie) Huls of Le Mars; a sister: Judy (Randy) Meister of Lee’s Summit, MO; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother: Dan Huls.
