August 21, 1944 - June 10, 2017

Mary Ann Hartman, 72 of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Good Samaritan Society in Le Mars.

Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 16, 2017 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A. Visitation with the family present will begin at 4:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m., all on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. Burial will be at Waterman Cemetery in Sutherland, Iowa. Expressions of sympathy may be expressed to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Hospice of Siouxland.

Mary Ann Anderson was born on August 21, 1944 to Lurraine ‘Andy’ and Edna ‘Babe’ (Trobaugh) Anderson in Le Mars,Iowa. She graduated from Le Mars High School in 1962. She was united in marriage to Jerry Hartman on November 4, 1962. They lived in Northwest Iowa and later divorced. Mary Ann received her nurse’s aide certification while working at Sutherland Nursing Home where she worked for several years. She also worked at Templer’s dime store and J&R Tap in Sutherland. Mary Ann moved back to Le Mars in 1987 and worked at Plymouth Life until her retirement.

Mary Ann was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A. in Le Mars where she was a member of the Altar Guild and taught Sunday School. She was also member of the Eagle’s Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, and collecting owl, flamingo, and cardinal memorabilia. Her favorite time was spent with her family, specifically her grandchildren and great grandchild.

Mary Ann is survived by her children: Brenda Pierce of Marathon, Iowa, Bruce (Beatrice Stone) Hartman of California, and Brent (Heather) Hartman of Le Mars; grandchildren: Brittney (Kurstin) Pierce, Dustin Pierce, Allison Pierce, Michael Hartman, Daniel Hartman, Bradley (Jennifer Hansen) Hartman, Elizabeth (Zach Counter) Hartman, and William Hartman; great grandson, Greyson Hartman; siblings: Joyce Roeser, Diane Anderson, Donna (Dan) VanderWell, Dennis Anderson, and Debbie (Paul) Kellerson all of Le Mars; sisters in law: Shirley Hartman and Jackie Herbold; aunt, Evelyn Stream; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Mary Ann is preceded in death by her parents; sons: Bradley and Byron Hartman and their father, Jerry Hartman (2012); and brothers in law: Vince Roeser, Bill Hartman, Darrell Hartman, and Gene Herbold.
