ANNA NIELSEN

Anna Marie Nielsen, 82, longtime Hinton resident, died Monday, May 23, 1988, in a Sioux City hospital after a long illness.

Funeral was 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. John Lutheran church in Merrill with Rev. Frank Philipp officiating. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery at Merrill.

Mrs. Nielsen, the former Anna Miller, was born July 6, 1905, at Cherokee to Alfred and Theresa Bauman Miller. She married Carl Nielsen Dec. 19, 1923, at Council Bluffs. The couple lived in LeMars from 1936 until moving to the Hinton area in 1943. He died in 1968. She was a secretary for Dr. Ruble at Hinton for many years.

Mrs. Nielsen was a member of St. John Lutheran Church at Merrill, the Hinton and LeMars Senior Citizens Groups, American Legion Auxiliary, Blur Bird Card Club and several other local organizations.

Survivors are three sons, Edward C., of Pierre, S.D., Dale M. of Sioux City and Steven A. of Bella Vista, Ark.; two daughters, Mrs. Stanley (Lorraine) Lake of Hinton and Mr. and Mrs. Donald (Judy) Fylstra of Sioux City; a brother, Raymond Miller of Omaha; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Marian Miller of Burbank, Calif.; 11 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Jeff Flystra, LaVerne Nielsen, Harley Holmes, Dale G. Nielsen, Steve Lake, Bryan Fannon and Eldon Thompson.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers and a sister.
