SERVICES HELD FRIDAY FOR MRS. NORTON

Mrs. Daisy Hamilton Norton, 72, resident of Merrill, Ia., died Tuesday, Oct. 20, [1953], at a LeMars hospital after an illness of several months.

Mrs. Norton was born Feb. 23, 1881, at Black Hawk, Colo. She came to the Merrill community at the age of eight years.

She was married to William Guy Hamilton in 1900. He died March 31, 1926. On Sept. 26, 1940, she was married to Clarence Norton at Dakota City, Neb.

Survivors are the widower; three sons, James, Wesley and Wayne Hamilton all of Merrill; five daughters, Mrs. Frank Dougherty of Milwaukee; Mrs. Lawrence Holtzen of Hartley, Ia.,; Mrs. Franklin Fergerson of State College, Pa.; Mrs. Harold Rath of Hinton; and Mrs. Lyman Clark of Merrill; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Clifford Jensen of Akron, Ia.; three sisters, Mrs. George Eason and Mrs. William Fry, both of Wessington Springs, S.D., and Mrs. William Gosting of Kildare, Okla; 21 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday at the residence at Merrill and at 2:30 p.m. at the First Methodist church at Merrill. Rev. S.D. Wimp officiated. Burial was in the Merrill cemetery.

Mrs. Daisy Norton Of Merrill Dies; Services Friday

Mrs. Daisy Hamilton Norton, 72, of Merrill died at Sacred Heart hospital Tuesday, Oct. 20, after becoming ill last June.

Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p. m. at the residence in Merrill, and 2:30 p. m. at the First Methodist church there. Rev. Frank Wimp will officiate and interment will be in the Merrill City cemetery.

Daisy M. Alderson was born Feb. 23, 1881 at Blackhawk, Colo. She came to this community from New Diggens, Wis., when a girl of eight. In 1900 she married William Guy Hamilton, who died Mar. 31, 1926. Her marriage to Clarence Norton took place Sept. 26, 1940 at Dakota City. Neb.

She is survived by her husband. Clarence Norton, three sons, five daughters and a step-daughter. They are James, Wesley and Wayne Hamilton and Mrs. Lyman Clark all of Merrill, Mrs. Frank Dougherty of Milwaukee, Wis., Mrs. Lawrence Holtzen of Hartley, Mrs. Franklin Fergerson [Ferguson] of State College, Pa., Mrs. Harold Rath of Hinton, and step-daughter, Mrs. Clifford Jensen of Akron.

Also surviving are 21 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and three sisters. Mrs.; George Easton and Mrs. William Fry of Wessington Springs, S.D., and Mrs. William Gosting of Kildare, Okla.

Besides her first husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

The body was taken to her home in Merrill Wednesday morning, and friends may call there until the service time. Arrangements were by the Wiltgen funeral home.

Attended Funeral Of Mrs. Norton

Casket bearers at the Mrs. Daisy Norton funeral were Earl and Everett Orr, Fred and Peter Trometer, Bernard Cumikow and Nis Ahrendsen.

All Mrs. Norton's eight children were present for the funeral except on daughter, Mrs. Franklin Fergusen (Jennie) of State College, Pa., who recently returned home from a hospital. Her daughter, Mrs. Harold Logue (Deloris) of Cleveland, Ohio, was present. Among others coming from a distance were her daughters and their husbands, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Dougherty and their three daughters of Cudahy, Wis., and Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Holtzen and son, Armond of Hartley, Ia.; also her sister, Mrs. Cora Fry of Wessington Springs, S.D.

There were also many other more distant relatives from Council Bluffs, Ia.; Decatur, Neb., and South Dakota, Sioux City and LeMars. Mrs. Logue came and returned to Cleveland, Ohio via plane.
